I could never understand why Bettman doesn’t consider southern ontario “hamilton” a serious contender. Toronto is the biggest hockey market in the league, they have a waiting list to many games despite having a losing team for how many years and probably the most expensive ticket. Nevertheless tickets to the ACC is still a hot ticket!
I understand that Copps Coliseum is an old arena and doesn’t have the capacity the league would like, but the city of Hamilton did promise to build a brand new arena if an organization was to move to southern ontario. ( I’ll post a link to the renovation that was deny by the league )
Here’s the link… http://www.thehockeyprogram.net/2009/05/…
Why doesn’t Bettman consider southern Ontario a serious contender when it’s clearly the biggest hockey market? New York has 4 teams ( Rangers, Islanders, Devils, Sabres ) Why can’t Ontario have another team?
